In the Nothern mythologi there are both explanations of natural phenomena, visions and dreams, which can make life easier. In the world of gods all human dreams can come true.
"Skibladner" is a dream about a vehicle for gods. Saxo tells, that " Skibladner " was made by dwarfs, who knewall sorts of handicraft. Creation of this wonderfull vehicle took place in a mountain where Thors` hammer and gold ring Draupner and other such wonderfull things were also created. Neither gods nor human beings were allowed to watch the dwafs at work. They built " Skibladner " behind thick walls inside the caves in the mountain. What a wonder. It could be put in a leather bag.When it was unfold, it could both go on land, in water and in air, anywhere gods wanted to go in the world. The gods could go anywhere with " Skibladner ",
and it was very fast. There was no was no problem such as Thor had with his chariot and the billy goats, which should be harnessed and fed, and so on. As soon as you were out there, you could fold it and stick it under your belt like you would do with a knife, you carry with you and use frequently. You know how to manage with the things you carry with you. One thing with three functions.
It is not possible to guess, how our ancestors imagined such a multi-purpose vehicle looked like.
My model in the picture (1 : 10) will be12 m in length made of an iron plate of 8 mm thickness. The wings will be cast in bronze, and the wheels will be cement cylinders filled with cement.
We do not know much about our ancestors dream and imagination of a " Skibladner ",but it is a fact that the dream has come true today.Nowadays it is possible for anybody to go to anywhere in the world. We are now able to communicate with each other anywherein the world physically and also with use o
f electronic devices, for instanse, the computer. This means that the global community is a reality and people all over the world must have common responsibility fo everybodys`s survival on our planet, the Earth. Now with the help of modern communication devices we enter a " world - wide community ".
The schulpture hasnot yet been created 12 meters, but my model 1:10 can you see in Århus Musichouse in the hall from the date 6`th of August 2001.
I do not know, Where it will be created; but my dream is to place SKIBLADNER in SKIVE , ÅRHUS , LEMVIG , LONDON, NEW YORK , LARENA IN SIQUIJORE IN THE PHILIPINES OR VANCOUVER OR EVERYWHERE.
